LakePalestine.com visitors up 59% in 2013

LakePalestine.com reached another milestone with over 146,000 page views served up in the first half of 2013. From January through June of 2013 LakePalestine.com received 27,514 visits and 8,951 unique visitors, up 59% from 2012. The most popular section of the site remains "Real Estate" with a 19% increase in traffic from 2012. The "lodging" section is a close second but demonstrated the largest traffic growth with a 101% increase over 2012. The top 10 user originations in order of traffic are Dallas, Houston, Tyler, Austin, Fort Worth, Longview, San Antonio, Plano, Arlington and Lubbock. Much of the growth can be attributed to an 88% increase in mobile traffic to LakePalestine.com from 2012 to 2013. Currently 36% of the visitors to LakePalestine.com are accessing from a smartphone or tablet. "With the recent site redesign we can better serve visitors accessing the site via mobile devices," says Cassidy Lackey, Founder of LakePalestine.com. "The new site detects the screen size and serves up the site perfectly formatted for every device." The site also experienced 296% increase in "direct" traffic from 2012 to 2013. This is a significant achievement as it demonstrates that a large percentage of visitors are typing "LakePalestine.com" in their browsers versus searching via a search engine. "Clearly residents, weekenders and visitors are skipping the search engine and coming directly to LakePalestine.com for their lake area news, events, weather, real estate and vacation rentals," says Lackey. There are significant new features and improvements planned for LakePalestine.com during the remainder of 2013 and into 2014. "We've really just scratched the surface of what can be done with a good local site such as LakePalestine.com, " says Lackey. "We have some great ideas to make the site much more socially interactive while leveraging user-generated content." LakePalestine.com offers lake area businesses an incredible opportunity to reach local residents, weekenders and visitors starting at just $25/mo. No other media can reach visitors and weekenders at the critical moment they plan their trip to the lake. Advertising information can be found at LakePalestine.com/advertising.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Nov. 20)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 68 degrees; 1.08 feet below pool. There is not a lot of freshwater runoff from the recent rains because the vegetation is absorbing most of it. Water temps remain in the upper 60s, but should begin dropping soon as the fall fronts begin. Bass fishing remains good, as the fish pursue shad that are moving into the creeks to the warmer water. Reports of success moving slowly up the mid and upper lower lake creeks with both surface lures and swimbaits. Target areas with 4 feet or less to find the shad. Fishing the more open parts of Chimney Cove and Cobb near the mouths should also be productive, especially on sunny afternoons, if the shad gather there. Catfish remain good for daytime rod-and-reelers, though the channels remain small. Please review the notes from the Outdoor Annual for Lake Palestine regarding catfish, those notes show that the normal state limits for both channel and blue catfish are superseded and different. Bluegill or perch fishing has been good around the mid and lower lake bridges with a No. 2 crappie hook and small minnows for the larger ones, or worms. Anticipate some yellow bass, excellent eating, no size or number limits, mixed in. Report by Jim Beggerly, Jim’s Fishing Lake Palestine.
