White bass are one of Texas’ most sought-after gamefish, especially when they make their annual spring spawning migration into rivers above reservoirs.
To improve access for anglers targeting white bass, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has signed a leased access agreement for 20 years with Chandler River Park on the Neches River above Lake Palestine. The Neches is known for its excellent white bass runs, and March through early May is the prime time to target this species.
The lease provide anglers with free access from 30 minutes before daylight until 30 minutes after dusk. Anglers will be able to use the property for bank fishing and launching non-motorized watercraft such as rafts, kayaks and canoes for the purpose of fishing. Improvements and the lease at Chandler River Park were funded by the East Texas Woods and Waters Club.
